HTML5 Video Test
This test ist using the new HTML5 video Tag natively. I have encoded a short video in three version for different browsers.
Even the controls are rendered natively from the browser. Depending on the browser-type you use, you will see some or maybe no videos below.
Firefox for example doesnt support MP4. More info here. All files are encoded with the miro video converter under MacOSX.
Webm DIRECT HTML5
Direct link
This video is encoded with the brandnew Webm-codec which is based on the VP8 codec from ON2 technologies.
Google opened the VP8 as open source and developed the Webm container format, which is very similar to the Matroska container (mkv).
The effincy is awesome as this file has 4.4mb.
YOU NEED A VERY NEW BROWSER TO USE THIS CODEC! (e.g. the nightly build of firefox)
OGG DIRECT HTML5
Direct link
OGV is natively supported by mozilla-based browsers. This file is 10.1mb heavy.
MP4 DIRECT HTML5
Direct link
This MP4 is using H.264 supported by very new Internet Explorers or Safari 4.x.
It has 24.1mb.
See awesome webm-footage on Youtube with this video:
